Local History

The vision for The Society Incorporated-Supporting the Arts Greater Charlotte Chapter began in the winter of 2021 when Tiffany Hemmings Prather, a passionate advocate for the arts, shared her vision with two close friends, Robyn Massey and Kimberly Aldridge. They were immediately captivated by the idea and recognized its immense potential. Together, they embarked on a mission to charter a local chapter of The Society Incorporated, dedicated to supporting youth who demonstrate exceptional talent in the arts.

Driven by their shared commitment to enhancing youth appreciation for the arts, fostering artistic expression, and supporting talented individuals in their community, Mrs. Tiffany Hemmings Prather, Mrs. Robyn Massey, and Mrs. Kimberly Aldridge took on the role of chapter organizers. Their dedication and efforts culminated on June 4, 2022, when the chapter was officially chartered.

The inaugural group of charter members comprised remarkable individuals who shared the vision and mission of The Society Incorporated Supporting the Arts. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the charter members: Olga Kearns Billups, Khrystle Bullock, Cezanne Cody, Angela Collins Lewis, Sidney Echevarria, Loraine Felder, Arlene Ferebee, Diane Frost Hill, Shanniska Howard, Donna Hundley, Lisa Jordan, Jonell Logan, Dr. Kathy Martin, Lucrecia Moore Esq*, Tammy Polk Hinton, Belinda Searcy, and Elizabeth Thomas-Hollier. Their unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the chapter’s success and impact.
Since its establishment, our local chapter has been actively engaged in fulfilling the mission of The Society Incorporated, Supporting the Arts. We have organized various initiatives, including art showcases, workshops, and programs that provide opportunities for young individuals to showcase their talent and expand their artistic horizons. Through collaborations with local schools, artists, and community organizations, we have fostered a vibrant artistic community and nurtured the artistic expression of youth, enriching the cultural fabric of the Charlotte region.

We are immensely proud of our chapter’s growth and the profound impact it has had on supporting and empowering talented youth in the arts. As we continue our journey, we remain dedicated to our mission, guided by the core values of friendship, service, and the belief in the transformative power of the arts.
